 DangerLands Update Thread

Hey everyone,

The time is here for a first glimpse! It is still rough, not much to do other than walk around and gaze in awe at my sweet zone, but you are welcome to give it a shot.

The website has a forum now: http://www.dangerlands.com/
Here is the info for the current beta test: http://www.dangerlands.com/index.php?opt....opic=8&Itemid=2

The Beta is now a web-app, so no need to download or to make sure you have the latest info. Just go here:
http://www.daveyounggames.com/dangerlands/dangerlandsWIP.php

You'll have to install the web plugin, but that web address will contain the latest build, so each time you go, you'll be up to date.

To make an account, just type in some account name and password and it will prompt you to create a new one if it isn't already in there.

Please try it out and give any feedback (here or on the DangerLand forums). Especially let us know if you can connect, make a char, and run around in game.

NOTE: this uses the low quality textures to keep it small, so don't be alarmed that it isn't beautiful.

Well, the server was being funky, but Dave and I got online for a bit. He made some changes and is uploading the new version. Hopefully it will be ready for beta testers on monday. I'll post some pics when I get a chance (bedtime for daughter and then Amazing Race).

Dave is trying to track down some networking issues. If you have a moment, please download the bare naked client and report if it works or has problems.

Gahhh... Missed it.... I'll try a bit later.


I love alpha/beta code I think it shows what the team had in mind before it gets changed for what ever reason (political/marketing/technologica/etc...)

The quick network test is back up. Use the web version. I expect it gets the updates faster. There is now a chat box!

I'm adding in some campfires with cool flame effects and some spiderwebs for the long canyon at one edge of the map. All those little things really add to the atmosphere.
